After repeatedly materialising complex geometries rationalised via panelisation processes for various design projects I hijacked the CNC card cutting machine to take things further and replaced the cutting blades with felt tipped pens.
The original intent of the mask has been enhanced computationally, blurring facial contours and discouraging recognition. Patterns were generated computationally, inspired by those of camouflage in the animal kingdom. The flexibility of the design systems means the geometry of the mask can be customised or generated via digital scan and patterns informed by images supplied by the individual or preference of fauna.
Engaged to run a computational design workshop at the Centre of Fina Arts (COFA) Sydney various methods of geometry generation, mould fabrication and casting processes were investigated as part of the preparations.
